Mid-Year Reset: Reflect, Release, Realign

Half the year? Gone. And if you’re anything like me (and most folks), you’re probably wondering: Where did the time go? And am I even on track?
Life moves fast. And for many of us, the pressure to push through, perform, and keep it all together is real. But let me be clear: you are allowed to pause. You are allowed to reset.
Within this rested girl season, we’re choosing rest over hustle, alignment over exhaustion, and joy over perfection. It’s time for a Mid-Year Reset, your invitation to reflect, release, and realign with softness and intention.
Reflect: Look Back with Self-Compassion
First, take a breath. Now look back.
Self-reflection is a powerful tool for growth and healing. It helps us tune into what’s working, what’s not, and how far we’ve come (Nash, 2025). You’ve come further than you realize. It’s essential to recognize that while you might not be where you want to be, you are still farther from where you used to be. Celebrate your positive progress, even if it’s small.
Ask yourself:
What’s been nourishing me?
What’s been draining me?
Where have I shown resilience, even when no one noticed?
This is about celebrating your wins (even the small ones) and holding space for your whole self, gracefully.
Release: Lay Down What No Longer Serves You
Now, it’s time to release what you no longer need to carry.
Some goals, habits, and even relationships served a purpose once, but that doesn’t mean they belong in your next season. As Wymer & Brownlee (2022) note, knowing when to pivot is vital for protecting your mental health.
So let go of what’s draining your joy. Let go of the guilt for needing rest. Let go of outdated expectations rooted in hustle culture.
You are allowed to put yourself first. You are allowed to rest, fully and unapologetically. In this season? Rest is resistance.
Realign: Move With Purpose
Now that you’ve cleared the clutter, it’s time to realign. What do you actually want for the rest of this year? Not what Instagram says. Not what your friends think. You.
Teladoc Health (n.d.) encourages using mid-year as an intentional reset, realigning goals and expectations based on your current reality. Life changes. You grow. And your goals should, too.
Ask yourself:
What do I want to feel by year’s end?
Which goals still excite me?
Where can I give myself more grace?
Write 1–3 simple, clear intentions. And remember, it’s about progress, not perfection.
Final Word
You don’t need to have it all figured out today. A Mid-Year Reset isn’t about chasing some unrealistic ideal. It’s about choosing to move forward with intention.
So, take this moment. Reflect. Release. Realign.
Remember: You’re not behind, you’re simply becoming.
